Long Anticipated African American Superhero Comic Book “Reign of the Underdog Featuring Lazarus” Comes to Life on a Cutting Edge Augmented Reality Platform at Comic-Con


SAN DIEGO, CA (July 2019)Several years in the making and a Comic-Con International exclusive limited run edition, from hop-hop artist, Lazarus Guidry comes the universe of Reign of the Underdog Featuring Lazarus. The 24 page full color, adult comic story told in a 6 part mini series is set to debut at Comic-Con as part of a never seen before exciting, cutting edge, augment reality exhibit that will bring the comic book to life. The exhibit presented by EDGE XR (a company headed by acclaimed film director Matty Rich) will be located in the FutureTechLive! Pavilion (Booth #4) in the Omni Hotel where the comic book will be available for purchase as well. The action packed superhero comic book“Reign of the Underdog Featuring Lazarus” was created by Lazarus Guidry, who is also the lead character is the latest project penciled by legendary illustrator Arvell M. Jones.  Jones, best known for his work at Marvel Comics,where he co-created Marvels first black female superhero Misty Knight and for DC Comics and its imprint Milestone Media will sit on several panels throughout the weekend including an exclusive “Spotlight on Arvell Jones”, where he will talk about his career, past and latest comic projects and people he has cheered over the years.  Guests can meet & greet Lazarus Guidry & Arvell Jones in the Artist Alley located on the main floor of the Convention Center where the book can be autographed and purchased.

Written and created by rap artist/actor Lazarus Guidry who is also the lead character in the book, Reign of the Underdog is a real pager turner, taking readers on a thrilling pursuit of battle in the search for truth and identity as David “Lazarus” Tate goes in search of his missing father, but ends up matching wits with a deadly assassin who gleefully collects headpieces for her collection; a secret society, whose shadowy exploits are slowly emerging; and eventually, Lazarus has to puzzle through a complicated maze of subterfuge, abuse, and the hope of redemption in a world where the lines inextricably blurred nothing –– or no one–– can be trusted.

The Saturn Awards announces 2019 nominations for film, TV, Streaming and home entertainment


LOS ANGELES (July 15, 2019) – Nominations for the 45th annual Saturn Awards, honoring motion picture, television, home entertainment and live stage productions, were announced today. A beloved event for many of Hollywood’s top creative talent, the awards show will be available for the first time ever to global fans via a streaming partner, to be announced shortly. All 2019 Saturn Awards winners will be unveiled at the official ceremony on Friday, the 13th of September at the historic Avalon Theater in Los Angeles.

Leading the way with 14 Saturn Award film nominations is Marvel/Walt Disney Studio’s Avengers: Endgame, and Walt Disney Studio’s Aladdin in second place with nine. For television and streaming, HBO’s Game of Thrones leads with nine nominations, with The Haunting of Hill House and The Walking Dead following second with six nominations each. As a studio overall, Disney leads with 44 nominations among 12 film and television projects across its various companies, Marvel, Walt Disney Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm Ltd. and the Disney Channel.

As part of the show’s revitalization in 2019, the Saturn Awards has moved from its traditional June date to Friday the 13th of September. To accommodate this change, the eligibility window for this year’s nominations is based on a 16-month eligibility period, which includes projects publicly released from March 1, 2018 through July 7, 2019. The 46th annual Saturn Awards will be held at the end of summer/early fall 2020 and will resume a 12-month eligibility period.

Dan Watters, creator of New Grindhouse, a Sandman-esque fantasy comic book series Coffin Bound to appear at SDCC

SDCC Networking Event - Comics, Coffee & Conversation

Spend the last day of Comic-Con International: San Diego with creators Danielle Colman (The Unfinished Corner), Jason Lutes (Berlin) and Brian Schirmer (Fairlady); educators including John Shableski (UDON/Manga Classics); retailer Rachel Parker (SoCal Games & Comics); comics librarians including host Moni Barrette (Chula Vista Public Library) and fellow comics enthusiasts for fandom conversations over coffee! Topics will range from how graphic novels are used in education, how diversity is spreading in the comics community, and information about the new Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table of the American Library Association.

Hear from creators who have tapped the graphic medium to record the history and experiences of marginalized peoples, to take control of their own narratives, and to inspire a new generation of activists, as well as from librarians crafting large-scale initiatives around comics that focus on historically underrepresented communities. Fans Invited to Be Part of Dragon Ball History with Guinness World Records Attempt on Opening Day; Ultimate Celebration of Dragon Ball to Include Must-Have Collectible Event Exclusives, The Latest Dragon Ball Video Games, Dragon Ball Anime GIF Photobooth and Dragon Ball Sticker Rally


Los Angeles, CA – July 12, 2019 Toei Animation Inc. Funimation, a Sony Pictures Television company, and Bluefin, a Bandai Namco group company, revealed today the complete details for the launch of the 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con including a history-making Guinness World Records attempt on Opening Day of the tour.


Co-sponsored and presented jointly by Bandai and Toei Animation, the 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure opens on Wednesday July 17 at an expansive installation on the Marriott Marina Terrace at the Marriot Marquis San Diego. The tour will continue throughout San Diego Comic-Con 2019 from July 18 – July 21 and will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


Following San Diego Comic-Con, the 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure will travel to seven additional locations around the world including stops in New York City, Mexico City Mexico, Cologne Germany, Barcelona Spain, Shanghai China, Hong Kong China, and Tokyo Japan.


Dragon Ball Guinness World Records Attempt

Come be a part of Dragon Ball and Guinness World Records history! The 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure will open with a special Guinness World Records attempt to become the largest gathering of people simultaneously performing the iconic Kamehameha super energy attack move.


Fans will gather on Wednesday, July 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure on the Marriott Marina Terrace at the Marriot Marquis San Diego. The first 1,000 participants to arrive will receive a free Dragon Ball Scouter accessory to wear during the Guinness World Records attempt. The Kamehameha super energy attack move will be led by actor Sean Schemmel, the English voice of Dragon Ball character Goku. Guinness World Records will be onsite to supervise and validate the record attempt.


Dragon Ball World Adventure Displays

Dive into the world of Dragon Ball with an expansive collection of multi-faceted interactive installations will delight fans and attendees. Catch interactive kiosks featuring the latest Dragon Ball video game titles from Bandai Namco Entertainment, including Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, Dragon Ball Z Fighter, Dragon Ball Legends, and Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle.


Dragon Ball Animated GIF Photo Booth

Capture your visit to 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure with a unique and shareable complimentary memento.  Head to the Dragon Ball Animated GIF Photo Booth, select your favorite background and pose for a series of photos that will be stitched together and delivered to you as a looping animated gif that can be shared directly with friends and family and/or posted to a variety of social media channels.


Dragon Ball Collectibles & Exclusives

On display will be a wide array of S.H.Figuarts event exclusives and special Dragon Ball products from leading Bandai brands including Tamashii Nations, Shokugan, and Banpresto. Event exclusives will be available to purchase at the Tamashii Nations Booth #3545 inside the Comic-Con Main Hall and require an exclusive merchandise time slot issued by San Diego Comic-Con to purchase.

Join the Dragon Ball Sticker Rally and collect stickers at each attraction inside the Dragon Ball World Adventure.
